Trump Reportedly Weighing Pardon For Fugees Star Pras Michél Amid Conviction For Corruption & Conspiracy
President Donald Trump is reportedly considering a pardon for Pras Michél, the Grammy-winning rapper and member of the Fugees, who is facing 22 years in prison for his involvement in a massive international corruption case.
Pras Michél was convicted for his role in the 1MDB scandal, one of the largest kleptocracy cases in history, which has implicated high-profile figures like former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and financier Jho Low.
Pras Michél, convicted on charges including conspiracy, witness tampering, and failing to register as a foreign agent, worked as a go-between and political fixer for Low, a fugitive financier. His legal team, led by Adam Katz, is exploring clemency options after Michel’s appeal process and the legal challenges stemming from his trial. Trump’s potential pardon follows recent shifts in Justice Department personnel, including the resignation of the head of the public corruption unit who prosecuted Michel’s case.
